Join the Board
The Nelson Soccer Association is guided by a volunteer Board of Directors. The board is made up of four executive members (Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer) and up to eight Directors-at-Large who work together to guide the organization and support the growth of soccer in our community.
Serving on the board is an active commitment. The full board meets once per month, and many directors also participate in smaller committee meetings that may meet more frequently. Board members should expect to contribute approximately 10–30 hours per month to board-related work.
We are particularly interested in recruiting individuals with experience or interest in areas such as:
- Grant writing
- Human resources
- Strategic planning
- Governance
- Finance
- Communications
- Community development
However, just as important as specific skills is a willingness to collaborate, think strategically, and support the long-term health of the association.
The board focuses on governance, policy, and long-term planning for the organization. It does not make decisions about team rosters, playing time, tournament attendance, or the day-to-day operations of individual teams. For that reason, the board is best suited for individuals who want to support the organization as a whole rather than influence the experience of a particular team or player.
We welcome community members, parents, and supporters of the game who want to help build a strong, sustainable future for soccer in Nelson.
