Youth Soccer Parent Code of Conduct

Our goal is to create a positive, fun, and development-focused environment for all players. As a parent/guardian, I agree to uphold the following:

  1. Prioritize Fun and Development
I understand that youth soccer is about enjoyment, learning, and personal growth. I will value effort, improvement, and participation over winning.
  2. Create a Positive Environment
I will encourage all players, show respect to teammates and opponents, and model positive behavior at all times. I will not yell, criticize, or place undue pressure on any child.
  3. Support, Don’t Coach
I will allow coaches to coach and support their coaching philosophy and I will allow referees to officiate. I will avoid giving instructions from the sidelines and will not criticize coaches, officials or players.
  4. Communicate Respectfully
I will communicate with coaches in a constructive and respectful manner, and only at appropriate times (not during or immediately after games).
  5. Follow the 24-Hour Rule
I will wait at least 24 hours before approaching a coach or the association with concerns or feedback. This allows time to reflect, regulate emotions, and ensure communication remains respectful and productive.
  6. Promote Sportsmanship
I will encourage fair play, respect for rules, and good sportsmanship. I will model gracious behavior in both victory and defeat.
  7. Respect the Game Environment
I will help maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive atmosphere. I understand that alcohol, abusive language, and negative behavior have no place at youth soccer events.
  8. Support Officials
I recognize that referees play an important role in the game and deserve respect. I will accept their decisions and set a positive example for players.
  9. Support My Child’s Well-Being
I will help foster my child’s confidence by encouraging effort, allowing them to learn from mistakes, and supporting their enjoyment of the game.
  10. Encourage Player–Coach CommunicationI will support my child in building a positive, respectful relationship with their coach. When appropriate, I will encourage my child to communicate directly with their coach about questions, concerns, or development (such as playing time or areas for improvement), rather than intervening on their behalf. I understand this helps build confidence, responsibility, and communication skills.
  11. Represent the Club Positively
I understand that when wearing club apparel or attending events, I represent the association and its values. I will conduct myself in a respectful, positive, and sportsmanlike manner at all times, both on and off the field.
  12. Player Code of Conduct Acknowledgment
I will review the Player Code of Conduct with my child to ensure they understand the expectations and responsibilities. I understand that my child is required to sign the Player Code of Conduct as part of their commitment to these standards.

Acknowledgment and Agreement

I have read and agree to abide by this Parent Code of Conduct. I understand that failure to do so may result in action by the club or organization.
