Certification & Requirements

All requirements must be completed by the 2nd session of the season.

Note: Please contact admin@nelsonsoccer.ca to get coaching expenses approved before paying for any online courses.

1. Criminal Record Check (CRC)

Mandatory for all volunteers aged 19+. Valid for 3 years.

1. Visit the BC Justice eCRC Portal.
2. Enter Access Code: AYF8YCE34G
3. Select “Request a New Criminal Record Check”.
4. Verify the organization is “Nelson Soccer Association”.

*If fingerprints are requested, visit the NSA office for a volunteer release letter to waive the police station fees.

2. Respect in Sport

Mandatory BC Soccer requirement. Takes approx. 2.5 hours. Valid for 5 years.

1. Visit the Respect in Sport Portal.
2. Select “New to this Program” and register.
3. Critical Step: You MUST select “Nelson Soccer Association” under the district “Kootenay Rockies Youth Soccer Association”.
4. Use Pre-Registration Code: NSA-Z8C4N9G (This makes the course free).

Already certified? Email your certificate number to the office.

3. NCCP Online Modules

Required for all coaches. Takes approx. 3.5 hours total. Valid for 3 years.

Access these through your NCCP Locker Account:

• NCCP Make Ethical Decisions
• NCCP Making Headway in Soccer (Concussion)
• NCCP Emergency Action Plan
• NCCP Rule of Two

4. Grassroots Clinics (Theory & Practical)

Step 1: Online Theory (Complete by April 1st)
Log in to your Canada Soccer SmarterU Account. Ensure you select “Nelson Soccer Association” as your club. Complete the theory module for your age group (Active Start, Fundamentals, Learn to Train, or Soccer for Life).

Step 2: On-Field Practical (Part 2)
Once theory is complete, register for the practical workshop via Coach Centre.

• Active Start (U4-U6): Thu, April 17th @ 5:30pm
• Fundamentals (U8): Tue, April 15th @ 5:30pm
• Learn to Train (U10-U12): Sun, April 13th @ 12:30pm
• Soccer for Life (U13+): Wed, April 9th @ 5:30pm
